Energy Star is a program that identifies the most energy efficient equipment within a specific classification – in our case Commercial Ice Machines.  Models that are at least 15% more energy-efficient and 10% more water-efficient than standard ice machine models are given the EPA’s Energy Star designation.

Easy Ice has partnered exclusively with Hoshizaki for our ice machines in part because the majority of Hoshizaki commercial ice makers are Energy Star rated.  In 2013, 98% of Hoshizaki’s product line have earned the Energy Star rating.  Hoshizaki’s commitment to continuously improve ice machine efficiency has earned it the EPA’s 2013 Energy Star Partner of The Year Award.  Easy Ice is proud to partner with Hoshizaki to help America’s businesses minimize water consumption and reduce their carbon footprint.

Choosing an efficient ice machine model is a great first step, but studies show that poor maintenance can reduce ice machine efficiency by as much as 25%.  With Easy Ice’s regular preventive maintenance program coupled with a few simple steps taken by your staff, you can ensure you are doing all you can to ensure the equipment is operating as efficiently as possible.

In addition to positive impact you’ll have on the environment, lower energy and water consumption means lower utility bills and higher savings for your business.

Here are a few tips to keep to keep to enhance ice machine efficiency:

  • Clean the ice machine’s air filters frequently.
  • Keep the ice storage bin’s lid closed when not dispensing ice.
  • Maintain excellent air flow and circulation around the ice machine.
  • Avoid water-cooled ice machines where possible, as they utilize significantly more water than air-cooled machines.
  • Select the largest capacity ice machine for your budget, as larger capacity ice machines are more efficient.

Preserving our world’s natural resources is an important undertaking at Easy Ice.  We are pleased to offer a program that accomplishes this goal while improving the bottom line of our customers.  Learn more about the EPA’s Energy Star program.
