Preventive maintenance is included in our commercial ice machine subscriptions. As part of your subscription, we will schedule and perform preventive maintenance. We also replace standard ice machine water filters twice per year (at no cost), according to the manufacturers’ recommendations for ice machine maintenance.
Routine preventive maintenance is imperative to keep the ice machines running well and to avoid extra electricity costs for you. We’re the only national company that includes all preventive maintenance in our ice equipment program.
In addition, our technicians perform comprehensive ice machine cleanings twice per year.
Certain uses and environments may dictate the need for more frequent ice machine cleanings (high yeast, dust or grease environments). These are considered special conditions. We do charge extra for these additional cleanings in special conditions.
In between out maintenance visits our customers need to perform light cleaning weekly of the ice machine. This will ensure safe, clean ice for your customers and employees. These are the basics:
- Clean the exterior surfaces of commercial ice machine weekly with diluted bleach to inhibit mold growth.
- Rinse out ice machine air filters frequently. Grease, dust, and lint in the air filter will decrease the performance of the ice maker. (NOTE: Do not bang or hit the air filters on anything to clean — this will damage the filter.)
- Make sure the ice machine is protected from extreme temperatures (no less than 40F and no higher than 90F.)
- Check the drain periodically to make sure it is free of debris.
